Her academic journey began at the University of Kerala, where she pursued a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, laying a strong foundation in technical expertise. Driven by an insatiable curiosity and ambition, she continued her studies at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai. There, she earned an M.Tech in Technology and Development, followed by a PhD in Municipal Solid Waste Management a field that reflects her commitment to environmental sustainability, a theme that would later echo in her healthcare leadership.

Her early roles showcased her hands-on expertise, including her tenure as Unit Chief of the Peroorkada factory in Thiruvananthapuram, where she oversaw critical production operations. On January 4, 2023, Dr. Thampi was appointed Director (Technical and Operations) of HLL Lifecare, a role she assumed after being selected by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) in June 2022.
